CHASE DECO ELECTRIC HOT SERVER OR CASSEOLE DISH Von Nessen

This piece was catalog # 90115, sold from 1938-1942. It is a beautiful Art Deco design with the chrome body complimented by the ribbed design around both the base of the main dish and rim of the cover. Walter Von Nessen then repeated this ribbed pattern on the white plastic knob and beautiful handles. The four small feet are of the same white plastic.
The catalog copy read: “Electrically heated water in the base of
the Electric Hot Server or Casserole keeps food in a two-compartment glass baking dish piping hot and appetizing for hours and hours. The glass dish is of heat-resisting glass, and it can be place in the over for baking.”
It is 6 1/8” high and 9 ¾” diameter." That measurement does not include the handles. Overall condition is very good. The surface of the main outer dish has some light scratches and scuffs. There is one almost imperceptible ¼” straight impact point about 2” left of one handle. Can only see if when the light is just right. The plastic handles are perfect, as is the top knob. The plastic feet are all perfect too. The cover shows the most scratches and scuffs, including a perfect circular scratch a little wider than, and around the knob. Very odd. I know it is hard to discern the scratches, especially due to the reflections from the cloth background and the lighter ceiling color.
There are 5 tiny dents in the top, flat and only ¼” or less. Hard to see them. The glass bowl has one chip at the rim, it shows at about the ‘8 o’clock’ area in the photo. The cord appears to be in excellent condition. I plugged it in, the heating element heated up nicely, I did not wait to see how long it would take for the water to heat up. Shipping for this item, due to the weight of the glass dish is high, I tried to find the best rate possible, it somewhat depends on your location and can change the shipping method, UPS Ground, or USPS Large Flat Rate box depending on which is cheapest for you. I may remove the handles and the knob to prevent any possible damage in shipping, so you may want to decide if reattaching the handles is okay with you. They are attached with screws. Original  Chase fasteners on the side handles, hex nuts holding the knob on top may be replacements. Please ask any questions before bidding.
